As advertised
Very good mask. Took it to Palau which is known for strong currents for my first dive in ten years and it held up very well. No leakage and was also pretty comfortable even though I wear my mak right.
If you put all the divers who like purge valves together in a room with divers who hate purge valves you would start a riot. The problem is not purge valves. The problem is nobody makes a decent design.
Back in the 70's and 80's was this design of a flat piece of glass with a purge valve which stuck out front. The nose pinch was behind the valve built into the rubber. The design was fine, but fell out of favor because it looked ugly; called the "pig snout." Newer designs pushed the lenses back, reduced the volume, and improved peripheral vision. One gotcha - a protruding soft nose pocket became the standard. If you wanted a purge valve, it went into the nose - or up your nose and/or prevented you from pinching your nose. It's a bad design.
This design is the best of both worlds. Now you have the customary nose pocket back, but it's not really a nose pocket. It's a purge valve pocket - stylish, functional, and does not interfere with the nose pinch. On my face, I can pinch my nose easily and it makes a great seal.
I will be buying a second as a backup. Great design with a strong solid tempered glass with peripheral vision and a purge valve which doesn't look like a pig's snout.
