I use it for paddleboarding and surfing. It does not cover my ears as much as I'd like so the cold water is painful if I fall in. However, I use it to cover my head and even with waves it does not get ripped off which is most important to me.
Keeps me warm during open water swims in 60 deg Lake Michigan. The chip strap and seams can chafe, so you need to apply Bodyglide and be careful about making sure the Velcro straps line up. But overall I’m very happy to be warm and visible to other boaters and other swimmers.
I think the colors are fun. It is great for keeping my long hair out of my face. Because of the cut of it, I It doesn’t get in the way of my mask; no leaking here!!!
If you are looking for visibility for safety sake - or warmth - this is it.
I live in Rhode Island and swim at Narragansett, Easton's and other popular beaches which cater to surfers, fishermen, SUPs as well as swimmers.
Everyone's head looks like a clump of seaweed in the water and in traffic you risk life & limb especially with the surfers who are looking elsewhere and have speed along with a weapon sized board.
At cold water beaches many water-goers have hoods - all of them black with ZERO visibility. This hi-viz option is a godsend. I hope the seller makes a ton of money and gets people on the wagon. No different than walking at night in traffic, if they can't see you - they can't avoid you.
BTW - this is both comfortable AND warm in addition.
Great product if you are in the waves with traffic.
