Promate Raven Frameless Scuba Dive Spearfishing Mask - MK500

DESCRIPTION

The Promate Raven Frameless Scuba Dive Mask is a continuation of the trend toward the frameless mask designs becoming so popular with scuba divers. The exception with the Raven mask is that you get an absolutely great design at a budget price. The Promate Raven does not have the plastic or metal lens frame found on most masks. Instead, the lenses are molded directly into the soft, silicone skirt in a single molding operation. This mask has the lower tear-drop shape used by many designs to improve the downward visibility. It is narrower at the temples for a good fit, but widens again at the eyebrow to provide improved vision when glancing up. The skirt of the Raven mask is extremely soft and the mask has molded ridges at the top and bottom from an improved grip when doffing and donning. The strap attachment is molded directly to the mask skirt, providing more comfort and a better fit.
*Face Seal Size W4 3/4 * H3 1/2
*Frameless Design Lowers Internal Volume
*TearDrop Lens Shape for Increased Downward Vision
*Narrow at Temples - Wide at Eyebrows for Upward Vision
*Soft Black Silicone Skirt for Good Fit
*Molded Ridges Around Lens for Improved Grip
*Strap Buckles are Molded to the Skirt for Improved Comfort and Fit
*Great for scuba diving, spearfishing, freediving
*Made in Thailand

Nice mask wont seal properly

Im sure the mask is great. This silicone seems like its great quality. I tested the mask in the pool and it will not make a seal where my mustache is. Some other reviews said this mask is gold for people with a beard. If you have any hint of a mustache please save yourself some time and look for another mask. I tried loosening the mask I tried tightening, I tried everything to get it to seal. I didnt shave and didnt try using vaseline. But I refuse to do either one of those every time I use a mask.

Great for the $$$$

I work for a dock company, doing almost any kind of construction work on the water. I’ve been doing this for 12 years and have been through a few masks, not to mention worn countless masks belonging to other people. For $30 this is a kick ass mask. Comfortable, well made. I’ve been sending the link to it to all the new guys. If your looking to get into a good mask at a good price, this is the one. If you are going to be doing some serious diving at serious depths, I’d say pony up and spend a little more.

Professional Quality Mask at a Low Department Store Price

The facilities that manufacture this ProMate mask in Thailand are the same facilities that manufacture several masks on behalf of the world's leading scuba diving brands. This particular "Owl" shape mask seems to be only available from ProMate and that offers one of the best shapes and views available (assuming it fits your particular face size and shape.) For those that complain of fogging, I believe it is because they've not taken the time to clean the inside of their masks with white toothpaste or other similar cleaning solution to remove the oils and film from the manufacturing process (the same is required of any mask regardless of price.) Since these masks are relatively inexpensive, I'm assuming that many buyers are new to diving... perhaps snorkelers or those taking an novice diving course (I'm a certified rescue diver.) they may not be familiar with the process of "prepping" a new mask for diving before use. Over the past decade or two, I've owned and/or used masks from almost every leading manufacturer and brand, IMHO these ProMate masks stand up to all but the most expensive masks (those above $150).

Hurts to wear

Tried these out for scubadiving and freediving. The seal is great for someone with a beard, but every time I'm done diving the center of my brows hurts for a couple of days. Everything else is great with it but now I have to drop the money on a good mask.

Great mask!

This is a great mask, dont get discouraged because of the price. My primary mask is an Atomic frameless2 but this mask exceeded my expectations. Good fit and good field of view.
